SolarLab produced and installed this solar facade to replace the existing polymer facade panels as part of a transformation from an industrial facility to a modern shared office space. The Trifolium Dairy in Copenhagen’s Sydhavn district appears as it did in 1966 – with bright blue panels under the windows – but they now invisibly integrate electricity-producing solar cells.

The structural colour coating and matte Satin finish provide a new, maintenance-free, and durable blue facade in line with the original design intent for the building, but produced in Denmark from mostly recycled resources and sustainable energy. The facade not only has a low carbon footprint and a long operational life, but can also be fully recycled in the future circular economy.

The bespoke solution with its uniquely low-build height, required to maintain the existing wall design, is both quick to install and inexpensive – it pays for itself within a few years. Energy renovations and transformation through facade upgrades can cost-effectively lower energy waste and extend their functional lifespan for many generations.
