The project’s sustainability strategy combines the active facade with roof-mounted solar modules to generate a substantial share of the school’s annual energy use. Together with low-carbon materials, passive design measures, and energy-efficient systems, the building demonstrates how an expressive architectural language can coexist with ambitious climate goals.
Ruseløkka Skole was completed in 2021 and serves approximately 690 students across ten year levels. The building has become a visible example of Oslo’s commitment to climate-responsible public architecture - where the envelope performs both as structure and as a statement of intent.
